Round table discussionOne hundred women meeting in small groups to discuss 14 topics affecting the lives of Omaha women and girls – this April 16 Community of Women for Change meeting was just the starting point for a conversation involving hundreds more women. We invite you to be part of it.

A key theme that emerged was the need to engage more women in the discussions – more women who are familiar with the topics discussed and with social problems in Omaha. For the next several months, we’ll post a topic, along with a recap of the discussion that has already occurred. We encourage you to join in the conversation by posting comments on the discussion that’s already taken place, voicing your opinions and sharing success stories.

This will fuel the fire for another key theme identified:  to keep the energy going. Those attending the inaugural Community of Women for Change meeting said they want to do more and to build on the momentum gained at the forum and in the roundtable discussions, which is why we need you to join the conversation.

Mentoring, developing support groups and networking were other prominent themes.   Several groups also noted that women often have an overload of responsibilities and roles, which doesn’t leave much time for these activities.

Participants also identified a lack of information and resources on many of the topics discussed.

Watch for regular updates highlighting the 14 topics from the roundtable discussions. Then add your comments and check back to see what others are saying. The following topics have been posted:
